Wellness Care

Routine Exams

Routine preventive care exams provide a solid foundation for a lifetime of good health for your pet. These regular visits allow our staff to get to know you and your pet better and provide our veterinarians with the opportunity to identify any potential medical concerns and address them right away – before they develop into a more serious problem. Because cats and dogs age more quickly than people, significant changes in your pet’s health can occur in a short time. By ensuring that your pet has received appropriate vaccinations and preventives, many diseases can be avoided entirely.

We recommend that healthy adult dogs and cats visit us once a year. Puppies, kittens, senior pets and pets with health conditions need more frequent checkups. Our preventive and wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include comprehensive physical exam, internal parasite testing, heartworm, flea and tick control, vaccination program, nutritional and weight management counseling and specialized blood tests for all life stages. Together we will work toward helping your animal companion enjoy a long, happy and healthy life! Call us today to schedule your pet’s wellness exam.

Puppy Well Care

Our preventive programs are designed to help get your new puppy or kitten started on the right path to a long and healthy life. The first few months are a critical period in your new family member’s development, and we can give you the support and tools necessary to help him or her grow into a well-mannered healthy family pet, including information and advice on nutrition, training, and behavior.

Senior Wellness Care

The fact that our pets age more rapidly than we do (5-7 years for every human year) allows diseases and other health problems to develop more rapidly also. No matter what the age of your pet, proper diet, regular exercise, and routine medical checkups should be a basic part of their lives. Our best defense against health problems is awareness and prevention. If we can spot early warning signs, we can ensure your pet has a smooth transition from adult to senior years. A senior pet wellness exam is the first step to helping your pet.

We offer a full geriatric physical exam which includes an orthopedic and neurologic exam if needed, our veterinarians may recommend one or all of the following:

Blood work (biochemistry and/or complete blood count)

  • Urinalysis-to check the urinary tract including kidney function
  • Fecal-to check stool for parasites
  • Blood pressure measurement
  • X-rays- chest x-rays to check the heart and lungs, abdominal x-rays to check abdominal organs, orthopedic x-rays to help diagnose arthritis
  • Thyroid Profile – to check that the thyroid gland is functioning properly.

Specialized Diets

Many specialized diets are available and the choices can be overwhelming. We carry a wide variety of veterinary diets that can meet most any special dietary needs of your pet. Our doctors and staff are trained to help you pick the right food for your pet’s nutritional and palatability needs. We can also order those we may not stock.
